About the Workshop Facilitators:
Dr. Rana Abu-Zhaya is a Palestinian developmental scientist. Her research examines the features of language input that infants learn from, and the mechanisms that underlie language learning in infancy. She is trained as a speech-language therapist and has worked extensively with children with autism and language disorders. She is a lecturer in the division of Psychology and Language Sciences at UCL.
Dr. Feryal Awan is an Algerian-Pakistani mother, researcher, and lecturer at the Institute of Education, UCL. Over many years, she has worked closely with Palestinian children, engaging with their stories to document and understand their lives under Israeli occupation. She is currently writing a book about childhood and children’s media in Palestine. Additionally, her recent research delves into how minoritised children in London express solidarity with Palestinian children.
