FLP is joined by the one and only Leanne Yau (aka Poly Philia) for a lecture that joyfully complicates our relationship with relationships…
CLASS DESCRIPTION
What does it mean to be in a committed relationship? Why is romantic love perceived as a limited resource that you can only give to one person? Why are marriage and children typically reserved for romantic connections, and does it have to be this way? How can you customise your relationships with everyone around you and live a life that is tailored to your true and authentic desires? Polyamory educator Leanne Yau will explore these questions and more in this talk on relationship anarchy, and how this political philosophy when applied to human relationships has the potential to deeply enrich people's lives, no matter what relationship style you are in.
ABOUT OUR LECTURER
Leanne Yau (she/they) is a British award-winning content creator, certified sex and relationships educator, writer, and trainee sex therapist whose work is all about non-monogamy and sex positivity. She draws from her lived experiences as a polyamorous, bisexual, neurodivergent, and Asian a-gender femme who has been openly non-monogamous since 2016 to bring her audience educational and entertaining multimedia content about creating healthy and sustainable non-monogamous relationships. Since 2020, she has connected with millions across the globe, whether through her social media posts, online and in-person talks, workshops, panels, and lectures, in the media, or her private non-monogamous peer support sessions. She also writes ‘A Polyamorous Perspective’, a polyamory advice column at Gay Times.
Leanne was named in ‘15 LGBTQ+ Educators Who Took Instagram Infotainment To The Next Level’ (Buzzfeed, 2021), '10 Polyamory Experts to Follow on TikTok' (Cosmopolitan, 2022), and ‘60 Top Influencers Who Are Actually Worth the Follow’ (Men’s Health, 2023).
