Introduction to Drag - Exploring Character, Influences & Form

Join Spoiler Rotten (Kimberley) in a fun & relaxed workshop to explore what drag means to us, its form, influences and history, and how to create a character. The workshop will be relaxed and will focus on discussion, play & exploration with opportunities to share with the group and create either individually or in groups. There is no pressure to perform or share anything.

Kimberley Capero is a Dagenham born working class queer artist and drag performer. Kimberley completed Soho Theatre's Drag & Cabaret Lab in 2021 where drag persona Spoiler Rotten was born. Spoiler Rotten was a finalist of Man Up 2022, Not Another Drag Competition (NADC) in 2022 & NADC All Stars in 2024. Kimberley has performed as drag king Spoiler Rotten in a variety of venues and festivals in London and beyond including Mighty Hoopla, Albert Schloss, Latitude Festival, Soho Theatre, Dalston Superstore, The Glory (RIP), The Divine, Clapham Grand, Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Camden People's Theatre & Roundhouse

Spoiler Rotten, like the aerodynamic thing stuck to the back of your average boi racer's car, was born from growing up queer in Barking & Dagenham with car culture, boi racers and the Ford factory as a backdrop for exploring, performing and rewriting masculinity. His performances are cloaked in high-vis & legitimate Ford issued uniform. Performances are gender bending character comedy & audience interaction often with a UKG and drum and bass soundtrack. Expect a lot of high vis, engine oil and a sprinkle of campness. Rev your engine and join him in a fun workshop exploring drag!
