Can't Make These Dates? Visit draggedaroundlondon.com/drag-tales and sign up to our Drag Tales list and we'll be sure to tell you when we've got the next ones organised (and we won't email you about anything else except Drag Tales!)
After a very successful Christmas event at Corner New Cross in December, we're so very pleased to announce that we are going to make it a monthly event in the cosy basement space! Join Tania LeCoq for more story reading fun!
BRING YOUR OWN PILLOW – we'll try our best to make the space as cosy as possible, but we'd really appreciate it if you could bring your own pillow or soft furnishings to help make it as comfy as possible for you and your kids.
Please also arrive from 10.30am so that you have time to grab a drink and sweet treat before the performance at 11am.
In order to keep the event sustainable, we need to be earning enough money from the event to both cover the performer's costs as well as the venue. Please give generously to keep the event going!
Accessibility Note: The basement space unfortunately has about 12 quite steep and narrow stairs to go down to the room and there is no lift.
About Drag Tales
It’s simple: if you want your child to understand diversity, be in a space that is inclusive, and to have a sense of belonging in the world no matter what or who they are, then they will find it at Drag Tales.
Our fun, fruity and fabulous Dragged Around London drag performers will give your children a full hour of story time and singing delight. It’s a moment for kids to see the colourful worlds within their storybooks leap to life as they’re read by animated, technicolour drag queens, kings and genderless monarchs.
What We Will Do During Our Hour of Fun
At Drag Tales, we will adapt to the kids at the session, and make sure everyone has a good time.
We want children to see books they know and love being read by gender diverse fabulous beings so that they can see us as just as normal as anyone else. By using stories they’re familiar with, the whole environment becomes familiar and comfortable.
We encourage our performers to choose stories that they loved in their own childhoods to bring a personal touch to every session.
We might also sing fun songs, and if the kids are old enough, we might also play games.
And if you have any particular stories you want read, songs you want sung, or games you want played, we are open to adapting to what you’d like your children to experience.
It’s all about creating a safe space to play and learn about the wonderful differences in this big world we live in together.
Support the Event to Have it Come Back!
As the payment to our performer comes entirely from ticket sales, if we want this to continue at Corner New Cross we will need your generous support to make it sustainable.
All children MUST be accompanied by an adult, and adults should be accompanied by a child.
