About a rose:
A rose, my debut album as softshadow, is meaning through de-meaning. It’s a collection of semi-improvised tracks that span a music-making process of interwoven live-looping saxophone and spoken word poetry, as well as a cataloguing of genderqueer expression. The ‘rose’ in question is my first tattoo, a decision to mark my body without regard to what it represented or how some flower could represent some part of me. My music doesn’t ‘mean’ anything insomuch as it’s an attempt at understanding the nature of the world by throwing myself into it. It’s a discovery of what it feels like to pour the soul into sound, accessing the magic and chaos of pure sensation, emotion, and heartbreak.
subphonics
SubPhonics is a London based experimental music and sound art collective focused around improvisation and novel approaches to group sound making. Blending together the varied influences of their members they use improvisation as a method of exploring widely varying subjects. Soothing soundscapes collide with harsh noise and violent rhythmic trances. The group utilises a non hierarchical, open structure to facilitate frequent collaborations and rotations within the ensemble. The goal of the project is to make work that is both experimental in practice, whilst remaining aesthetically grounded to a broader audience.

improvisation, live performance, interactive installation, curation and DJing.
Inquiry about our experience of and interaction with the world through the lens of deep ecology and new materialism are at the core of her performative and installation works. Lucie co-creates with objects and natural materials, voice, field recordings, electronics and digital processing to embody speculative narratives via sound-making. The general aim is to encourage audiences to engage in listening as an active-creative practice and convey the urgency of awareness and kinship.
Lucie runs Introspective Electronics, a platform featuring regular radio shows and guest podcast series and zooming in on the vast diversity of ambient and electronica. Together with the London-based DJ and producer Alicia, she co-curates Terra Obscura, a series of progressive club experiences at the grassroots London venue Ormside Projects. In collaboration with AMOENUS, she co-organises Sonic Garden, a series of outdoor experimental ambient and downtempo happenings.
Lucie performed in the UK and Europe in venues and festivals including Cafe OTO [UK], Lunchmeat Festival [CZ], Waking Life [PT], Ozora [HU], Hangar Pirelli Bicocca [IT], Ankali [CZ], Construction Festival [UA], Mostra [ES] and KALT [FR] among others.

sift
Sifting, filtering and foraging the dirt for aural mycelium. Strands of intrigue buried beneath the layers of ubiquitous nothingness, these veins of promise are unearthed and traversed live. Improvised excavations that unravel to form a ‘set’ or perhaps more accurately a collection of worked concepts. SIFT are constantly in some way or another in a phase of R&D, propelled onwards by a shared belief in the life giving properties of sound.
