Join poet Gayathiri Kamalakanthan for a Word-Benders poetry workshop on Saturday June 28th, 2.30-4pm at Newham Poetry House.

✨ We'll read and reflect together on work by trans & queer poets of colour.

✨ All welcome, our aim is to increase the number of people reading QTBPOC poets!

✨ There'll be time for writing and sharing your own work too. Bring something to write with and on.

✨ £3 tickets & free tickets available.

✨ This is a step-free, relaxed space. However there is currently no wheelchair access.

The Lineup

Facilitator bio: Prerana Kumar (they/them) is an Indian writer and editor based in London. They are currently reading for a funded doctorate in Creative Writing at QMUL. Their debut pamphlet, Ixora is out with Guillemot Press. Their work appears in Magma, The White Review, The Poetry Review, Prototype, and Wasafiriamong others. They write about intergenerational inheritances, queer cosmologies, and slippery hauntings as counters to colonial, casteist, and heteropatriarchal legacies. They’re always happy to share a cup of chai.

Producer bio: Gayathiri Kamalakanthan is a Tamil poet and producer. They won the Disabled Poets Prize 2024 and their novel-in-verse, Bad Queer, is forthcoming with Faber.gayathiri.co.uk @unembarrassable.
