Please join us in celebrating the success of FRUIT MACHINE; Andrew Lumsden Art & Activism
Andrew Lumsden (1941-2023) was a London based activist and one of the founders of the Gay Liberation Front, a pioneering openly queer journalist and also an incredibly talented artist working across a variety of mediums.
A contemporary of Derek Jarman and David Hockney, Andrew Lumsden created a steady flow of artworks reflecting his life as an activist, traveller and lover. His work ranged from abstract and impressionist works in the 70's through to highly detailed photo realistic works reflecting the landscapes, beaches and interiors he encountered as he travelled around the UK, across Spain and to Goa, to personal sketches and paintings of friends and lovers, and then back to his first love of abstraction during the lockdown period in 2020.
At this Closing Party previously unexhibited works by Andrew, spanning over 50 years, will also be showcased, and available to purchase.
There will also be a book based on the show available to buy at the gallery or online at isolapress.com
We hope you can join us.
With thanks to Hackney Council (HackneyPride365) and the Grand Camp Maisie Fund for their support.
