Love is in the air and on the page this month! We will be celebrating our favourite books that capture that feeling of love in ALL its forms, in friendships, families, sex, intimate connections with places, self love, queer forms of affection and more. NOT ONLY the typical heterosexual romantic dynamics that we see everywhere in books and films.
❤️Here's the plan:
As always, we encourage you to bring books, music, articles or films to our discussion that you feel resonate with the theme of love, don’t be afraid to get creative!
If you're not sure where to start, read “All About Love” by bell hooks along with Temi as we reflect on our understandings of love and how hooks thinks we can revolutionise it. If you’d like to grab a copy, it's available at Lighthouse Bookshop (let us know if you'd like a discount code 😌) We also have a couple of free copies which we can lend you so please don’t hesitate to request this.
This book, and the topic of love, is not for the faint of heart so feel free to come to just listen if that’s most comfortable for you. There will also be plenty of space for you to take a moment to yourself if the discussion starts to feel too heavy <3.
This space is specifically for POC readers; allies can support us by attending our next event or donating directly to Saffron Cherry.
