On February 27th Join us in Farrs bar for a screening of Ivorian director Roger Gnoan M'Bala's 1993 film “Au Nom Du Christ”,
“In a small village in West Africa, a pig-herd decides to save his people after nearly drowning, presenting himself as the cousin of Christ.” A satirical drama, Au Nom Du Christ explores what we might now refer to as ‘religious psychosis’. Through the laughable, all the while condemnable misuse of religious power dynamics, the film is an exploration of expanding Christianity and traditional spirituality of the people as clashing, yet necessary to communal survival.
Feel free to arrive at the bar for drinks from 6PM- the film will play from 7PM. After the film plays feel welcome to join in a group discussion of the film! Tickets for this screening are £3 suggested donation with limited seating so get your ticket while you can! unfortunately the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
ADDRESS: 17,19 dalston lane, London E8 3DF.
hope to see you there!
