Who: 🪩Calling all: London based 2SLGBTQ+ movers of the global majority + our lovely allies, all passionate about mastering the electrifying art of Waacking and more! 🏳️⚧️
What: House of Suraj (HOS) London is a seasonal artist development program for queer dancers and creative movers of the Global Majority and our supportive allies. HOS highlights queer dances, like Waacking & Vogue as a form of healthy escapism, transformation, cultural resistance, and heartfelt expression. We prioritize these traditions and experiences of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community into our practice while warmly welcoming allies who share our values.
How much: £25 + PWYC (pay what you can) options. After accepted as a member…. 🪩Monthly Subscription: £60 (£35 LGBTQ+ discounts for folx in need)
When 2-Part Training Season:

Sessions are a rich blend of physical movement training complemented by industry mentorship, covering a diverse array of topics. This program creates healthy affirming space for folks seeking to expand their growth as industry professionals and as creative business owners.
Why: It's time to mentor and empower the next generation of LGBTQ+ movers who are eager to elevate their careers and artistic expression to new heights. Waacking is the dance birthed from the gay black and brown community during the 1970s. Due to much straight-washing of the dance, many queer people of the global majority are unaware that this artform belongs to them by way of their dancestors. It's time for another cultural shift.
