Somatic Sound Workshop
Lunatraktors are an award-winning multi-disciplinary duo. Their ‘broken folk’ approach is rooted in folk traditions from the British Isles and Ireland, combined with contemporary performance and live art. Their work has been featured in a wide range of spaces, including museums, music festivals, theatres and galleries, and their recordings have twice been featured in MOJO Magazine’s Top Ten Folk Albums of the Year, and received a British Music Collection LGBTQ+ Composer Award.. The seed of the Lunatraktors project is a simple question: What can we do when we have nothing? What songs, dances, stories or games do we know by heart, or can we create through improvisation together? What music can we make using only our bodies and voices? This is Somatic Sound: a natural way to make music together, combining basic techniques from body percussion and overtone singing. Somatic sound workshops are suitable for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Lunatraktors are responsive to the specific needs of the group, and have experience running somatic sound workshops with a wide range of people, including mixed-ability community groups, postgraduate students, corporate clients, and the general public in multiple countries. Somatic sound is an activity that can be enjoyed regardless of physical mobility, sensory issues, or level of English proficiency.
