We invite you for an evening of the most human variety.
Tonight we will observe attempts, or accounts, at the creation of God. storytellers who have offered us visions of birth through seeded celluloid and fertile polygons.
Our first few attempts will be shorts from the visionary artist and game dev KittyHorrorShow, each birth presented more viscerally + abundant than the last.
To end the night you’ll be invited to join in the most involved creation act of the night, although rest assured you’ll not be marred by the errant giblets of this film helmed by E Elias Merhige.
As artists KittyHorrorShow and E Elias Merhige seem to viscerally understand the violence inherent to the act of creation, and make every second lived in their worlds utter agony.
Begotten is a feature film directed and written by E Elias Merhige,a film hostile in most elements. It is equally cruel to its characters as it is to an audience’s senses, but presents through abrasive black and white celluloid the dying of an old divinity to send forth infant gods on a journey not a second from the moment their flesh first hits the wooden floorboards.
Exclusion Zone and Melancholy Hill are both excerpts from KittyHorrorShow’s Haunted Cities Vol.4 which were screened previously at the Rio Cinema for the first time last year. Both explore the pain of a Mother, whose creations and followers may never fulfill her needs, discarding them involuntarily or with immense spite respectively.
Anatomy is a story about a haunted house, but the house is not haunted by anything. The house instead haunts itself, left to rot by its creators it has grown sinister, vicious, and invites you into its halls to exact a revenge most foul.
