Celebrate International Women's Day with a screening and discussion of this film about the legendary resistance fighter
In the run-up to International Working Women’s Day, FRFI South London pays tribute to the courageous struggle of the women of Palestine in defence of their right to self-determination, land and national liberation with a screening of this film about the great Palestinian freedom fighter and revolutionary,
Leila Khaled. Hijacker tells the story of how in 1969, as a young member of the Che Guevara commando unit of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Khaled became the first woman ever to hijack a plane. Today, she remains an inspiration to those fighting imperialist oppression and racism around the world.
As she said in 2008, ‘Who decides and defines what terrorism is? As far as I am concerned, occupation is terrorism. My people and I have a right to fight it. People have a right to fight those who occupy their country by any means possible, including weapons.’
