Did you miss the Nothing is Real gallery tour in February? No worries! We’re back with another instalment of informal guided exhibition events at Space Station Sixty-Five. This time, artist Steven Appleby will be joined by award winning designer and Trans* disciplinary artist, E.M. Parry for an exclusive one-hour tour and special performance.
Together, Steven and E.M. Parry will guide you through a fascinating retrospective of over 40 years of Appleby’s work currently on display at Space Station Sixty-Five. Expect personal insights into the overlapping themes behind both artists' practice, conversations about transience & transformation, gender, identity and everything in between.
The live durational performance, entitled ‘Needlings’ takes place prior to this in the Nothing is Real ‘Glory’ installation, a mysterious darkroom-esqe, peep-show space within the exhibition. In this intimate ritualistic spectacle the artist stages themself ‘trans saint, queer icon, fetish object, witch’s poppet, a luck charm, a ritual, a process, a test, a game’ all whilst interrogating queer embodiment and autonomy.
