🏰‼️ Important Venue Change: This event will now be at The Castle on Commercial Road
Platforming different Queer Teachers we'll be teaching different Salsa styles, Levels and other Afro-Latin Dances each Monday 19:00 - 20:00 followed by a dance social playing music according to the class taught that week.
Monday 28.4.25 Abi and Nvard will be teaching an Improving Beginners Cross Body Salsa Class 💟
If you have already been to a Beginners Salsa class, or have danced Salsa socially a lil bit, then this class is for you 😘 Don't be shy and come and level up from a complete beginner to an improving beginner ✨✨✨
We'll be building off of the very basic steps of Cross Body Salsa, footwork and partner work (we will ask you whether you want to Lead or Follow during the class). There will be less of a focus on technique compared to our courses and more emphasis on feeling the music, having fun and preparing to dance as part of the social.
You can definitely come alone to this - it's a wonderful way to meet new people, as we swap throughout so you can dance with everyone. However, if you wanna stick with your friend or boo that's totally fine too 🥰
Spots are very limited for this so get them while you can! A class ticket grants you free access to the dance social afterwards.
About the Dance Social 💟
Our socials are open to all levels, which is why we are starting with the class. We’ll also be actively facilitating the social by helping you meet new people, guiding you through how it works, and making it easy to approach new dance partners. For the first hour of the social (20:00 - 21:00), some of the more experienced dancers in the community will be taking on the role of Guardian Dancers and will be there specifically to dance with newcomers and beginners.
We'll be playing predominately Salsa with a little bit of Bachata. We also take requests during the night!
Welfare & Accessibility 💟
Along with the Teachers and Guardian Dancers from the community, there will be a Host floating around the event to give any extra support on helping everyone to feel comfy in the space.
We are actively working on making our events as safe and inclusive as possible. Please get in contact with any additional needs you might have that would be useful for us to know about.
Tickets 💟
Spots are very limited for the class, please get them online.
We’re also asking people who are able to, to donate OTD the usual £5 (or more if you can afford it) for the Dance Social to any of these three organisations supporting the trans community:
@translegalclinic
@transkidsdeservebetter
@lgbtiqoutside
No-one turned away for lack of funds. Please get in contact if you would like to attend but can't afford the prices.
