THIRST is a series of live music events at VFD to bring you new music, new artists, our second showcase of four acts is on Thursday April 24
Floralis
Floralis is an antifascist trans artist/producer who incorporates elements of hip hop and post punk into her bizarre blend of gothic art pop. Drawing from the influences of artists such as Bjork, M.I.A, Vince Staples, and her Trinidadian heritage, Floralis’s music captures the raw punk energy she has gained from her years of fronting hardcore bands with an electronic blend. @floralis_lc
She regularly covers subjects such as the cruel abuse committed by the Home Office, colonialism, and transphobia, with anarchist politics to match.
Jay Taylor
jaytaylor (they/she) is a transfemme producer, DJ and performer who blends aggressive electronic sounds with nostalgic 2000s emo, punk and alt-rock. Pulling influence from queer icons including Sophie, Underscores and 100 Gecs, as well as Pendulum, Pierce the Veil and Bring me the Horizon, Jay brings joy and rage in equal measures. @whoisjaytaylor
Related acts: Tobre, Space Candy, Princess Xixi, Dj Re:Code
Cuttfruit
Cuttfruit is a South East London based queer electronic artist.
They have been making music under various monikers over the years, underpinned by the desire for sensory satisfaction. Their experience of autism drives them to make noisy electronic sounds. They have recently released their first single 'Rockfish' a month ago, this song was the culmination of some not-so-healthy queer infatuation put to a clanky beat. Their music is also inspired by their experience of gender fluidity, queer disgust and the amorphous/abject. @ctfruit
M474K
M474K, an electronic punk music solo act fronting Malak, a self taught guitar player and musician from the Middle East.
With a background in visual art and a love for DIY, her work explores queerness and emotion through texture and unpredictability, and her sound is distorted and deeply personal. This is her first full live set. @M_4_7_4_K
THIRST takes place in the basement club space at VFD which has one set of stairs to enter.
THIRST is funded by Arts Council England.
