You've probably seen - or at least frequently heard of - Jennie Livingston's seminal documentary Paris Is Burning (1990), but that's only half the story, and some would argue even less.
On night three of Girls Girls Girls: Transfemininity On Screen, we're proud to present the underseen and near-never screened additional two hours of footage cut from Livingston's original film, which has been called even better than its predecessor, and an essential by even more who've seen it.
Not only will we be showing the film from a beautiful 35mm scan, we'll be joined by playwright, performer, actress, and London legend Danielle James for an extensive introduction on the work, what it means to gather and be seen, and Paris Is Burning's complicated legacy.
This new, and more personal look into the lives, hopes, and dreams of ballroom legends like Octavia St. Laurent, Dorian Corey, and Venus Xtravaganza stands on its own two feet so you don't need to worry if you still haven't ticked off the original film from your watchlist, but it pays to do your homework children.
I just hope to god that nothing in the long run stops us
