Calais Food Collective and Solidarity Tapes have joined up for a no borders fundraiser to mark 5 years of the collective.
CFC provides access to food and water to people on the move surviving on the uk-french border.
This anniversary is important. It highlights both the continuing violence and injustice of the border regime, and also the tireless work of activists trying to resist these borders and act in solidarity with people on the move facing violence from, and inhumane conditions under, the harsh border regime.
Join us for a night of resistance, celebration, and solidarity!

About CFC:
Calais Food Collective was founded in April 2020 when the outbreak of Covid and the withdrawal of other organisations caused intense food insecurity for the displaced population in Calais, which numbered around 1,500 at the time. In response, CFC set up a service prioritising dignity, solidarity, and autonomy, delivering dry ingredients directly to displaced people’s informal living sites, allowing them to cook their own food. In the last five years, the project has grown to include the provision of clean drinking water on a daily basis (CFC provides around 3 million litres of water a year), weekly litter picks, and advocacy work pushing for long-term change. Whilst CFC has grown and evolved in the last five years, the conditions in Calais have worsened as the state continues to repress and dehumanise people on the move. As we mark five years (to the month!) since the founding of CFC, we are looking to raise funds to allow us to continue mitigating the harsh conditions endured by people on the move under the hostile environment of the Franco-British border regime. The funding landscape for small groups like CFC, which orient their work around solidarity rather than charity, is currently very unpredictable. For this reason, we want to raise more money from events and ensure more support from individual donors, especially those who can make monthly donations, which will ensure more stability and sustainability for the project.
