In this monthly workshop series, we will journey with a different element—Fire, Water, Air, Earth—tuning into its unique language and energy. As we attune to our embodied senses, we will meet the natural landscape of the Greenwich Ecology Park—stone, water, dragonfly, willow, gorse, reed, swifts. We will move in nature, create environmental art, rest, and engage in simple rituals, dropping into a deeper connection with the earth, ourselves, and the elements around us.
Fire - May
In this workshop, we will spend the afternoon with fire, focusing on both its external presence and its energy within us. As we approach the halfway point between spring and summer, we will give attention to our inner fire—the spark that fuels our passions, creativity, and vitality. How does our inner fire need to be tended and nourished?
In the ecology Park the element of fire is very alive in the brilliant yellow flowers of the gorse. We will work with the plant of gorse, whose bright yellow flowers radiate like the sun. We will encounter it somatically, feeling its presence and using its vibrant yellow hue in our art-making. We will also incorporate ash & charcoal into our art-making, embracing it as a symbol of transformation—what has burned bright now can become the fertile ground for new creation.
