Vauxhall Pride: A Walking Tour Through the LGBTQ+ Heart of London
Join Lambeth Tour Guide Nikky Catto for a walking tour of Vauxhall’s out and proud role in LGBTQ+ history and joy in London and beyond.
This inclusive LGBTQ+ led walk will take you through the first station in Britain to have a permanent art exhibit to our community and their central role in ths city. We’ll discuss the current scene, the vanished venues and the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens’ role in shaping society queens and drag icons and more.
Will you pick a beehive, eagle or a black dog? We’ll pop by one of the most unique cafes in London and discover why DIY is so big in some parts of the umbrella. We’ll ponder a sign of gay liberation before going on a bear hunt and talking about why Pride is a protest.
Get to know the best of Vauxhall! This tour is a perfect way to mark Pride if the main parade isn’t for you but you are meeting people after it finishes.
Please meet at Vauxhall Bus Station by the pink hut for a 11.30am start. Allow 2 hours for this tour as we may have a bonus stop as an Lambeth Tour Guide Association perk. We conclude back at Vauxhall station.
