Join us for the closing of Queer East's exhibition { guttural },,,{ fleshless } with a special live performance by Min Yu.
Known for her audio-visual practice, Min will conduct a live tattoo session in response to her recorded sound compositions.
Min Yu
Min Yu is a Chinese-born British artist, who primarily uses tattooing and audio as her practicing medium. With the combination of sound, art and node-based coding, she was able to translate music into moving visuals for tattoo designs. By giving audio a physical form, she invites her clients to bring a piece of audio of their choice to make their unique tattoo designs. This process gives space for the possibility of deep emotional depth that comes from the relationship of her clients and the audio they choose. As a musician, she uses snippets of her own music for tattoo flash designs, some of these pieces of audio will be played during this exhibition.
