LGBTQIA+ Writing Workshop with Ryan Ormonde
Sunday 8th June 2pm - 4pm
Arrive 1.45, we start promptly at 2pm
This workshop is Pay What You Can, we suggest £3-£8 as this will help us cover some costs.
Read. Reflect. Respond. This workshop will offer a space to consider the personal writing (e.g. memoir, correspondence, diary) of a published author of your choice, to allow time for contemplation and to write a poetic response. Participants are asked to bring along a book of first-person, non-fiction prose, familiar or new, or to choose a book from a selection provided on the day.
This simple writing process will be gently guided and there will be an opportunity to share the writing you have produced with the rest of the group. By paying careful attention to the perspective of someone else, it is possible to recover your own position and to resist the oppressive glare of a blank page.
Ryan Ormonde (he/him) grew up near Hastings on the south coast of England. His poems have been published in magazines including Perverse, Gutter, The Rialto and Fourteen Poems. Ryan has collaborated with poet Karenjit Sandhu on a video poem for Magma and with artist Mădălina Zaharia on a short poetry film that was selected for the Scottish Queer Independent Film Festival (SQIFF).
These workshops are supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, there is always a waiting list so if you cannot attend please cancel your ticket so someone else can.
