On refusal and form. Join Remi Graves for a workshop exploring how the idea of refusal relates to form in poetry. When is a certain poetic form useful to engage with? At what point does our refusal of the rules of any given form do the poem/the idea being explored, justice. We'll look at work by Douglas Kearney, Terrance Hayes and others to explore ways to play with and against form.
Remi Graves is a poet and drummer. A former Barbican Young Poet, their work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, at St Paul's Cathedral and in various anthologies (published by Broken Sleep Books, Ink Sweat and Tears, Pan Macmillan). Past commissions include ‘a well worn path’ for Arthouse Jersey and ‘On Breathing’ for Barbican. Their debut pamphlet, 'with your chest', was published by fourteen poems in 2022. Remi was the winner of the inaugural 2024 Prototype Prize for the short form category.
