EFTI’S PROJECT

Efti's Project is an ambient jazz experiment led by London-based saxophonist Faye Thompson, who performs and shares in her meditative musical practice.
Faye’s approach to the saxophone is centred around improvisation, using effects pedals and extended techniques to shape and manipulate sound in real-time. They are drawn to textures that emulate electronic synthesizers and ambient music, as well as the sustained resonance of folk drone instruments. Faye enjoys taking inspiration from the sounds of her surroundings, be those nearby conversations, the clicks from her instrument’s keys, and even pedal glitches or unintended sonic artifacts.

LAOISE CORRIGAN

Flautist Laoise Corrigan is a second-year undergraduate studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Laoise grew up in Belfast and is still very connected with the Northern-Irish music scene and especially enjoys exploring music written by Irish composers. Currently they are a featured young artist with Belfast-based Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble, performing throughout their 2024/2025 season and last year they played principal flute for the Ulster Youth Orchestra. Laoise has a special interest in contemporary music and enjoys performing with the Guildhall new music society. They particularly enjoy exploring the intersection between sound art and visual art using specotgrams (sound when in a graph form). Recently Laoise performed with Island Drawing Lab at the ‘Feast of Senses’ exhibition in Winns Gallery which involved live co-creation of music and visual art. Aside from flute playing, Laoise enjoys volunteering, particularly with RiChmusicni, a Northern-Irish organisation that uses music to work with children with learning disabilities.
