The Queer Zine Dating Workshop Series is a group of events each addressing a different aspect of dating with guided conversation, crafting and exercises to help you feel more comfortable and confident in dating
COMMUNICATION IN DATING (4/7)
Dating & relationships are all about communication, from striking up that first conversation to important discussions later down the line. It can be hard to be clear and direct within dating; subtext, subtlety and game playing is not the best way to navigate connecting with someone romantically.
In this workshop we talk through your communication preferences, find alternatives where the typical options don't work for you and build confidence in communicating the vulnerability needed in dating.
Communication is something we are not really taught how to do so delving into this topic with a group of other queer daters can be really helpful - we will of course also be crafting a zine, a sort of communication manual for ourselves to keep track of what we discover in the discussions.
Materials
I will provide all the materials you need to take notes and make your zine during the session; there will be pens, pencils, paper, glue, tape and loads of collage materials - feel free to bring along anything else you like :)

The workshop is in a private meeting room in the Albany in Deptford:
- Step Free Access
- Accessible toilet

- I'm working on an online version, but for now you are welcome to join the session via video call for free
About the Facilitator
I am Kim (they/them) a queer matchmaker and event organizer with 5 years of experience helping LGBTQIA+ folks with dating. I've run this workshop series 11 times before but this is the first time it won't be a continuous group attending all the classes - so bear with any teething pains with this change.
