GuQu (Gully Queens) – HARDFOOD, the Caribbean DJ collective, invites you to GuQu, the first in their new event series at GLITCH.
GUQU - Named as a slick shorthand for “Gully Queen,” is for queer and trans people of Caribbean and African descent — communities often sidelined in both mainstream queer and cultural nightlife. While the space is open to all, it’s specifically created by and for those at the intersection of Blackness, queerness, and Caribbean identity. It’s built on the same foundation as HardFood, our existing diasporic music collective, the night reclaims Bashment, Soca, Afrohouse and more for queer and trans bodies to move freely and joyfully. GuQu is vibrant, sweaty, and unapologetically diasporic — a club night where Caribbean heat meets queer rebellion. Expect outrageous looks, whining competitions, surprise performances, and a soundtrack steeped in West Indian rhythm and resistance. This is a party for those who live at the intersections — and want to dance like no one’s watching… except we all are.
Kicking things off with a Games Night Edition, it's an evening of music, food, and games to celebrate the start of London Carnival season – also known as August!
Be sure to watch us transform The Glitch for a night of sounds across the table - starting with open decks by some of your favourite DJs, food for your belly and board games by the Queerribean domino project.
This event is open to all backgrounds and generations celebrating music and culture.
While everyone is welcome, please note that this event centres Queer and trans people of Caribbean and African descent communities often sidelined in both mainstream queer and cultural nightlife. Any conduct or behaviour that goes against the spirit of celebration and inclusion will not be tolerated, and those responsible may be asked to leave without a refund.

ABOUT HARDFOOD :HardFood is a DJ collective and platform created to celebrate the contributions of Afro-diasporic artists from the Caribbean to global music and culture. At its exterior, it honours the sonic legacy and visual language that Caribbean communities have embedded into diasporic expression worldwide.
At its root, HardFood seeks to nourish the diaspora — sonically and through education — forming bonds, building community, and feeding a spirit that transcends continents.
As a collective of West Indian heritage, HardFood’s focus is on platforming DJs from across the Black diaspora and cultural teaching.
