We wanted to be in Cyprus for United by Pride this year, but since we can’t, we’re bringing a little piece of it to London instead! 🏳️🌈
Come spend the day making zines with us — playful, DIY booklets where we’ll explore identity, memory, queerness, language, and home. No art experience needed. Just bring yourself, your stories, and maybe that secret talent for doodles. We’ll have different creative stations to match your secret talents: blackout poetry, creative writing, collage, and of course space for your fabulous queer expression. Feel free to bring your own material too!
We’ll provide all the materials, prompts to get you going, and plenty of space to cut, stick, scribble, and collage. By the end, you’ll have your own mini-zine to take home — and a chance to add your voice to a collective zine capturing the many experiences of LGBTQ+ Cypriots in the diaspora.
💡 Bonus: there’ll be delicious Cypriot food (thanks to the Hackney Cypriot Association) to fuel our creativity.
Who it’s for
This workshop is open to all LGBTQ+ people of Cypriot heritage — Greek Cypriot, Turkish Cypriot, Armenian, Maronite, mixed heritage, recently arrived, or London-born.
Whether Cyprus is your everyday, your memory, or your “in-between,” this space is for you.
