Come and join Victoria Rose for a workshop on British Burlesque and Striptease History at Soho School of Burlesque.
The aim of this workshop is to share the history of British Burlesque and Striptease. Unlike in the USA, British burlesque and striptease history is not widely celebrated and is not well known, even though Lydia Thompson and her troupe, the British Blondes, first introduced Victorian burlesque to New York. This is an important part of international theatre and cabaret heritage, yet it is often overlooked because of the stigma around the art. Striptease has often been dismissed in the UK as less than a professional art form, but that erases its impact.
Join Victoria Rose as she takes you through British Burlesque and Striptease History, highlighting not only Soho queens of striptease but also the UK legends who started and inspired the community.
This is a theory based workshop, no movement or dancing is required.
