Join us at Wysing Arts Centre, for a fun festive afternoon creating your own unique tea light holder and some ceramic tree decorations, accompanied by mulled wine and mince pies. We’ll guide you through how to make the objects, with plenty of time for you to be creative. After the session, your pieces will be glazed and fired for you, so that you can collect them before Christmas.
Suitable for adults, or young people aged 12+ accompanied by an adult. Only 12 spaces so book early!
Workshop Tutor, Fiona Colvile is an experienced potter, teacher and facilitator, as well as being a member of the Wysing staff team. She started working with clay as a teenager, working with a ceramic artist in residence at her school, followed by a three year pottery apprenticeship. Fiona has brought her love of ceramics into schools for many years, facilitating pottery sessions for children and adults alike. Her own work is a mix of wheel thrown domestic stoneware, and individual hand built pieces, many of these are raku fired. She is looking forward to enabling beginners, and those with some ceramic experience, to enjoy this festive ceramic workshop.
Wysing Arts Centre is a charity dedicated to providing unique environments and structures for artistic research, experimentation, discovery, and production. Based in Bourn, Cambridge, our rural centre is home to a variety of creative spaces - including our Ceramics Studio, founded in 2014 by Grantchester Pottery.
Primarily used by studio and residency artists, we have now opened the ceramic studio to the public through our membership scheme and classes.
