For our final community space of the year, we invite you to be with us as we try to create a space for joy and nourishment, honouring the change of seasons and, taking heed from Dalit-Bahujans who at this time of year often celebrate our connection to the earth.
This is a NOT-Diwali party because we refuse to play into these narratives and uphold systems that co-opt our asian-ness and aspects of our celebrations to revise our histories and turn us against each other. We insist on building spaces where we can create cross community solidarity that aligns with our values for liberation, to create a lasting peoples’ movement that is able to recognise and resist imperialism in all its manifestations.
We hope this can be one part of your anti-caste practice, challenging Brahminical hegemony and the dominance of the upper caste influences on festivals and cultural stories. We will explore this more together on the day.

More about our community spaces:
There’s power in physically gathering as a community – and it’s always been a vital part of inspiring, building and sustaining our liberation movements. The aim of our community spaces is to strengthen and build community power by sharing skills (+ food!), learning together, organising our people and embodying what it means to be in community together.
We see this as a practice in mutual aid and a place where we can gather, dream, learn, and take action. We hope to make new connections and friends along the way. Bring your friends, family, kids and comrades for an afternoon of learning, discussion and building solidarity.
We are a South Asian organising collective, but everyone is welcome in our community spaces.
Please book a free ticket to secure your place and so we know how many people prepare food for.
Note: we will be serving vegan food that is free from the main 14 allergens. Feel free to bring nut-free, vegetarian snacks to share with the group!
