Following our SELL OUT December rebirth, Naked Boys Reading explores those February feelings through a reading of Anne Carson’s Red Doc>.

This novel in verse revisits the relationship between G (the red-winged monster Geryon of Carson’s Autobiography of Red) and Sad But Great (the demigod Herakles, returned from war with PTSD). G and Sad go on a road trip to visit G’s dying mother. The tale is a bizarre, deeply intertextual, rumination on love at the end of its time.
The event is curated by our founder, Dr Justin Hunt, who will welcome you all to celebrate our first NBR of 2026 and his birthday.
