Letter writing in solidarity : Political Prisoners and Hunger Strikers
Join us on Wednesday 14 January to write letters of support to our political prisoners currently incarcerated for solidarity with Palestine.
At least 33 activists are currently in pre-trial detention including those accused of undertaking direct action against Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems. A large number of them have been in detention for over a year - well beyond the standard 6 month limit - as they await trial, with 8 prisoners initiating a hunger strike against the conditions of their detention.
At the same time as they embark on a draconian crackdown on direct action for Palestine outside, the British state has carried out a sustained policy of harassment of political prisoners within the prison system. Meanwhile, the government is doing their utmost to ignore the prisoners and their just demands, in the hopes that they can bury their cause.
We will not allow our political prisoners to be forgotten: supporting them is an integral part of our Palestine solidarity movement.
Join us to write and send letters of solidarity to those on hunger strike, those who have paused their hunger strike and to all the political prisoners incarcerated.
No previous experience required - guidance, materials and snacks will be provided on the day.
