What to expect:
Creative Writing Workshop
Led by Queer Noise co-directors Kia Matanky-Becker and Grace Quigley, this supportive workshop introduces participants to different poetry techniques and prompts including Frankenstein poetry -an experimental technique using , collage to remix and reimagine existing texts through a new poetic lens.
You’ll work with queer poetry, archival documents, and texts responding to London's LGBTQ+ history.
Live Performance + Open Mic
The second half of the event is an open, welcoming space for participants to share their own poetry , whether that’s something you’ve just made during the workshop or a poem that’s been hiding in your phone notes for months. The stage is yours.
This is a low-pressure, supportive environment with absolutely no obligation to perform if you’d rather just watch and listen. But if you’re curious about trying out performance, sharing new work, or getting a feel for reading in front of an audience, it’s a great place to start.
The performance section will also include featured sets from LGBTQ+ poets and musicians from the Queer Noise collective, including Tall Child, Kia Matanky-Becker and Grace Quigley.
