Join The Body Image Archives for the first ever Show, Tell, Donate workshop, a body image workshop with a twist.
Show, Tell, Donate is an evening of connection and collection hosted by The Body Image Archives.
The evening is split into three parts:
⇒ Show - bring an item that has influenced your body image in some way, whether that's your mum’s old weight watchers merch, a DVD copy of Shallow Hal, an old diary, the first piece of media you saw yourself represented in or anything else!
⇒ Tell - we’ll workshop and discuss the items, working together to identify and deconstruct the narratives these items show us about bodies, and discover tools and tips to help build body image resilience.
⇒ Donate - you’re invited to donate the item to the world’s first Body Image Archive and become a part of a more innovative way of teaching about body image.
Come with an item that's impacted your body image, leave with tools to create a more positive, resilient body image,
Community Guidelines + Inclusivity
⇒Whilst some of the items brought to the session will most likely involve fatphobic, racist, transphobic, queerphobic, ableist, and/or misogynistic tropes and the session will discuss these, discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
⇒ The reason why this project began is because of diet culture, persistent weight loss pressure from society and increasing levels of fatphobia, and this event is all about resisting and fighting back against these pressures. This space is not about centring weight loss techniques, or about stories weight loss journeys. This is not a weight watchers session.
⇒ This event includes talking about body image and having people from all kinds of backgrounds speaking about their experiences in their bodies. We encourage attendees to listen to others' stories with an open mind and compassion, and to not speak while someone else is speaking. Our stories may not be the same, and they are not up for debate.
⇒ We ask that you respect peoples' pronouns and do not assume peoples' gender or sexuality.
