Ostara Queer Pilgrimage
As part of Triangle’s wyrd & wonderful queer folk weekend join us on a pagan pilgrimage of deepest darkest South East London to a local stone circle. We’ll come together to mark Ostara, the start of spring in the Pagan Wheel of the Year. This moment marks the balance of darkness and light as more daylight brings goodness of spring to move out of the long nights of winter.
“Pilgrimage heals our mind, body and soul and connects us to places, communities, history and landscapes, enriching our lives through the feelings they evoke.” British Pilgramage Society
Following the three peaks walk, we will meet in Brockley and meander through streets, green spaces and along riverbanks ending with time amongst the stones and creating our own offerings to mark the occasion. We can also forage gifts of the changing season to take home and enjoy with guidance on how to use some of the abundance South East London’s hedgerows have to offer! We can collect treasures along the way and take notice of spring around us. Bring a piece of ribbon, torn fabric or string along aswell as something to collect optional foraged goodies.
What to expect? A 2 hour walk, time with fellow queers, local folklore, pagan ritual, foraging and a cuppa at a cafe at the end.
Leading the walk is South East London native and kitchen / hedge witch Cousin Lianne.
Wear weather appropriate walking footwear and bring a brolly. Walk is a mix of streets and green spaces with a couple of steep hills.
Meet at Ladywell Station from 10:45am Sunday 22nd March outside Le Delice cafe. We will leave promptly at 11:00am. Ramble will end at Hilly Fields Cafe. It’s a 5 mile circular walk which with a not too taxing pace we can manage in 2hrs.
