Trans Rights Readathon 2026 at Kirkdale Bookshop 🏳️⚧️
Join us on International Trans Day of Visibility, Tuesday 31st March, as we take part in the Trans Rights Readathon 2026! 🏳️⚧️The Trans Rights Readathon is an annual call to action to readers and book lovers in support of Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st. Founded by author Sim Kern and initially started as a small movement, it raised over $234,000, or nearly £200,000 for trans supporting organisations in its first year alone and continues to support and uplift the trans community, trans voices and writing.
We will be hosting an evening of readings from trans/non-binary/gender queer/non-conforming writers or readings of work featuring them. If you would like to participate in reading, either your own work or someone else's, please send an email to: mail@kirkdalebookshop.com FAO Freddie ✨As a decentralised fundraiser, participants are welcome to fundraise for trans aid organisations and charities within their own communities - because of this, we will have a list of Trans* charities at the shop with QR codes, links and a cash bucket, to donate money to and are we are open to any suggestions for more!Tickets are £10 (+a small booking fee)50% of ticket proceeds will be donated and spread amongst the chosen charities, with the remaining 50% going to staff costs for the evening.
