As a companion event to The Pink Supper performance on Thursday 7th November, Nando Messias invites you to join him at this Long Table discussion on being in exile, leaving home, LGBTQI+ human rights and social justice.
Created by artist Lois Weaver, “The Long Table is a dinner party structured by etiquette, where conversation is the only course. The project ingeniously combines theatricality and models for public engagement. It is at once a stylised appropriation and an open-ended, non-hierarchical format for participation. Both of these elements – theatrical craft and political commitment – are mutually supporting in this widely and internationally toured work. The (often-feminised) domestic realm here becomes a stage for public thought.”
After the Long Table, we invite you to view the installation of performance traces from the previous evening where you will have a chance to see in closer detail the commissioned ceramic plates created by Nando Messias and Aga Robak. Each plate is decorated with an image of one of Nando’s personal queer heroes.
The Long Table event is 3-4pm (1 hour).
The installation will stay open after the event from 4-5pm (1 hour).
