Following successful workshops this summer, including at Queer Spirit Festival and DIY Pride Brighton, I am delighted to announce the first Queers & Co. Tapping Circle in London. Taking place at The ARC Centre in Islington, this workshop is for queer folks who wish to release stress and tension in a safe and supportive environment, whilst discovering the power and healing benefits of EFT. You will leave feeling uplifted and more connected to both yourself and the queer community.
What is a tapping circle?
A tapping circle incorporates the use of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), as well as other tools like meditation and visualisation to release tension and stress and stimulate the body’s innate healing power. This is a safe, confidential and supportive space.
What is EFT?
EFT involves tapping on meridian points in the body and is beneficial for both emotional and physical issues. Collective tapping can be incredibly powerful for everyone in the space, no matter what they are working on.
What is Queers & Co.?
Queers & Co. is a social justice-focused network where queer folk and allies can connect, collaborate and drive social change. A kick-ass group of humans passionate about supporting each other, body liberation, intersectional feminism, sex positivity, checking our privilege and taking up all the space. A desire to smash the patriarchy is also encouraged but by no means compulsory!
Who is it suitable for?
Queer folks of course! Considerate allies welcome. All participants must be over the age of 18.
What's included?
- A 2-hour workshop including tapping (EFT), visualisation, guided journalling and meditation
- Complimentary refreshments
- Time to relax and connect with fellow queer folks after the workshop
What can I work on in a Tapping Circle?
For the purposes of the workshop, you are invited to bring a particular issue (emotional or physical) that you'd like to work with. This could be something you're aware of now or you might like to see what comes up on the day. It's up to you how much or how little about your issue you share with others in the setting. Tapping will be effective either way.
As this is a group setting, it's important to be sure to choose something you feel safe working on without 1:1 support. On a scale of 1-10, with 10/10 being the most intense issue, I would advise no higher than a 6/10. Anything higher is best-suited to 1:1 work. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email me: gem@gemkennedy.com
What should you bring?
A notebook and pen. There will be paper and pens available in case you forget. To ensure you're as cosy as possible, I'd recommend comfy clothes and a blanket. If you'd like to lie down for the meditation, please bring a yoga mat.
