Join us for a Meet the Author event with Max Hovey to discuss his new book No Fats, No Fems, chaired by author, founder, and storyteller Kenny Ethan Jones.
Taken from the exclusionary and derogatory language used in some online spaces, No Fats, No Fems investigates the prejudice and discrimination that many queer people experience both online and physically.
Combining personal testimony and research across the LGBTQIA+ community, Hovey’s groundbreaking guide explores: the roots of intra-community prejudice in racial, class, and identity-based discrimination; internalised homophobia and its links to body image issues; and the crucial role of intersectionality in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights.

Our Meet the Author series invites you to learn more about Britain’s queer history. Each event features an in-conversation with authors of non-fiction queer publications, followed by a post-event book signing where you can meet them in person.

Max Hovey, Author
Max Hovey is a London-based writer, creator, and queer advocate. He dedicates his platform to sparking discussions about and promoting body acceptance, sex positivity, mental health awareness and other topics relating to LGBTQIA+ issues. His writing and work have been featured in the Independent, Attitude Magazine, GQ, Bustle and other outlets. No Fats, No Fems is his first book.
Kenny Ethan Jones, Host
Kenny is an author, founder, and storyteller using lived experience to educate through authentic, inclusive narratives. He first gained global recognition as the first trans man to front a period campaign, helping shift mainstream conversations around menstruation and reproductive health. He is the founder of LostFame, a period underwear brand designed for masculine-presenting women, trans men, and non-binary, people often overlooked by traditional brands. His debut book, Dear Cisgender People: A Guide to Allyship and Empathy (DK Life, Penguin Books, 2024), has been described as a powerful call to action for allyship.
