Some are born great, some have greatness thrust upon them, and some are from Bermondsey. Rikki Beadle-Blair is the original don of south London: director, playwright, actor, ring master, dreadlock buster, literary warrior and gay role model par excellence. His receipts include pioneering queer Channel 4 box-set Metrosexuality, genre defining theatre shows like Stonewall, Bashment and Gangsta-Baby and the grass roots schools edu-tainment project Fit. From an accomplished working class dynasty, this product of Lois Acton’s Bermondsey Lamp Post Radical Free School, Rikki has been on the creative frontline of fighting homophobia and racism for five decades and was awarded an MBE in July 2016
You can take the boy out of the council estate but you can’t take the council estate out of the boy. Singing a few songs, showing a few photos and film clips and reminiscing with old friends and comrades from his entertainment family Team Angelica, we invite young creatives to a masterclass fuelled with working class glitter and grit
