Join us for a night of discussion, artmaking, and activism!
This is the first in a returning series of events hosted to prioritise racialised and diaspora voices amongst growing anti-immigration sentiment. We are creating a space that is driven by and for our community, so come along to our first session to hear more and help shape this space as it unfolds.
✨✨✨About the night ✨✨✨
🧵Crafts: Relaxed, optional, art-making activities for the day will be cloth-based. We're experimenting with print and beading to make patches and protest bannerlets.
💬Discussion Topics: Today will be an introduction or re-introduction to Skaped, our ethos, and the WHTS project.
🗣️Speakers: Just us!
As always, materials will be provided, but if you have things that you would like to bring along, feel free.
🎟️Tickets are free - PWYC, but booking is essential as it helps us gauge numbers. All voluntary contributions will help make this project sustainable.

In January of 2025 Skaped launched We’re Here to Stay: Honouring Our Many Identities. The 5-week programme was a response to the racist, Islamophobic riots of August the previous year, as well as growing anti-immigration sentiment throughout the country.
After consulting our community on how they would best like to be supported, we designed a programme that honoured and celebrated the diverse heritages of East London, with a panel talk, film screening, creative wellness, and book club. We learned a lot from the experience, developing ideas throughout and delving into the history of collective struggle and how we achieve liberation. Out of a desire to connect our community reflection with wider struggles, our series culminated in a community celebration and fundraiser supporting causes in Sudan and Palestine.
This year we are returning to the series as a long-running participant-driven programme. We want to create a lasting space we can gather, make art, and respond to an -honestly exhausting- social, and political landscape.
