GRIT // 02 Multi Story, Peckham Levels — 16 July
GRIT is a workshop / event for FLINTA people making or curious about experimental, noise, heavy electronics, and industrial music. We exist to build a community that's beginner-friendly, non-hierarchical, and welcoming — for people who love difficult sound.
7–8pm — Mixer Come early, meet people, have a cuppa. Bring gear if you want to talk it through with others, or just come for a chat. Sign up for the showcase now or later if you feel comfortable.
8–9.30pm — Workshop — Extreme Vocals with Morwenna (Cariad) .
This session covers the full picture of extreme vocals: how to actually warm up properly before you go anywhere near extreme techniques, a short demo and introduction to the history and context of extreme vocals, 30 minutes of guided exercises, how to build a vocal chain with pedals, and crucially — how to do all of this without destroying your voice. Questions and further resources at the end.
Whether you've never screamed into a mic or you've been doing it for years and want to understand it better, this is a space to push your voice somewhere new without burning it out.
9.30–10.30pm — Showcase (five slots available) - Wanna jam with some new pals? Bring a track, run part of a live set with sound and tech support on hand, or share whatever you're working on. Feedback available if you want it. Sign up during the mixer for a slot.
FLINTA only. Fully accessible. A smaller workshop this time with only 20 spaces.
