✨🌿🌳 Join us on 5th September for Brighton’s first Dyke Pride in St Ann’s Wells park! 🌳🌿✨
Brighton has been revered as a safe haven for queers and has been shaped by it’s LGBTQI+ population for decades, yet, it is currently one of the only major cities without a Dyke Pride or march. Mainstream Prides feel lost to capitalist, corporate and consumerist interests and has left dykes on the outskirts for far too long.
Earlier this year, a small group of us got together and decided to channel our frustrations, skills and resources into action. We deserve our own space, one that's fully trans-inclusive, accessible, cross-generational, and community-owned. Nothing fancy, but a free DIY celebration where we can be visible, safe and celebrate dykery in all its forms ✨
Anyone who has attended our Dyke Day events earlier this year will have an idea of the vibe - a patchwork, maximalist attempt to bring skilled and passionate people together to create something magic - the park day will be our fullest iteration of this yet.
We have guest speakers, unmissable drag kings and performers, iconic queer DJ’s, line dancing, a queer market, crafts, workshops, food, and plenty of space to chill and hang out in a beautiful setting.

Our ethos is strong in that the park event will always be free and as accessible as possible. Our incredibly talented performers have been kind and generous enough to showcase their work free of charge to help make this event happen.
We invite those with the means/resources to show your love, support and appreciation for queer artistry by tipping your performers - you can do this when registering for your free ticket here on Outsavvy by adding a donation.
All donations will be split evenly between our performers to thank them for their time.

We greatly appreciate the generosity of those who donated to our crowdfunder and attended our fundraiser event - thanks to this, we were able to hit our target budget and make the park day happen. We have ambitions to scale up whilst staying humble and true to our mission, and we're already looking forward to next year. You can support us by donating to our Crowdfunder, anything over our target will go towards next year's event.
Accessibility
- St Ann's Well Gardens has step-free access from its west entrance off Somerhill Rd with a concrete path that takes you through the main stage area and out the other side to where our market stalls and quieter hang out space will be (you can also access the market/hang out space by path without going through the main stage area).
- There are 5 toilets and one large accessible toilet space next to the cafe in the centre of the park. We're also booking 4 extra portaloos that will be between our event area and the cafe. All step-free and accessible by path.
- The stage will have a BSL interpreter - please support each other and make space for those who need the interpreter have space to view.
- We of course welcome dogs and emotional support animals to our events, but we ask that owners are mindful of noise and crowding, and don;t bring them too close to the stage/speakers/loud areas. We want everyone to have a good time, dogs included!
- An access video will be shared in the lead-up to the event. If you'd like a walk-through of the space please message us to arrange this.
- This is our first-time running this event, if there is anything we can do to make this more accessible for you, please reach out and speak to us. Similarly, if you have any further access questions, we are happy to chat.
Welfare & wellbeing
We have a small team of wellbeing angels from the local community with plenty of experience and training who will be on hand to help if you're not feeling well or need some support. They will be wearing armbands, so please feel free to approach one of the team if you have any questions or concerns. We will have a small welfare tent staffed throughout the day with a medic and a mental health practitioner. Additionally, we have two friendly, queer security staff from Safeonly who will help ensure safety and link in with the main team.
Where to enter
Brighton Dyke Pride will be hosted on the west side of the park (near the tennis courts) next to the main entrance off Somerhill Road.
Our values
This event is resolutely trans-inclusive, anti-racist, anti-ableist, and pro-Palestine. We strive to create an affirming space for all LGBTQ+ people, and no forms of discrimination or xenophobia will be tolerated.
This is a space that centres and uplifts ALL dykes, for dykes and their friends/those they are in close community with. We will also not be policing anyone's identity or gender.
