Going far beyond the nightlife trappings we've come to expect from queer cinema, Backseat of the Couch (2024) is a remarkably expansive ode to the underground, the bag chasers, the dolls, and the ones still figuring it out that glides from mornings after to nights before, from acting classes to hookups infront of housemates.
With a DIY foundation and shades of Gus Van Sant, Harmony Korine, and Gregg Araki, it felt only right to open the night with a rare showing of Araki's manic unaired MTV pilot This Is How The World Ends (2000).
