Waiting is rarely perceived as an event. Rather, as an interval between what has already happened and what is yet to come. It is precisely within this interval that a significant part of our lives unfolds.
We wait to graduate from university. We wait for a decent job. We wait for the results of an open call. For the working day to end. For payday to arrive. We wait for the moment when we finally feel experienced enough, mature enough, confident enough to begin living.
Yet time does not wait together with us. It does not slow down so that we can reach the right stage, fulfil our dreams, or stop doubting ourselves. It continues — regardless of whether we are ready or not.
The exhibition explores the space of waiting: of suspended or swiftly slipping time. A space of clocks, uncomfortable chairs, to-do lists, queues, postponed desires, flights, not being grown-up enough, no longer being young enough. Of everything that feels frightening to begin, everything whose time has not yet come. Everything that asks us to hold on just a little longer, everything that is about to happen.
Bringing together works across a range of artistic practices, the exhibition considers waiting not as the absence of action, but as a condition in itself. The participating artists approach waiting through personal, social and emotional perspectives, revealing it as a space where hope and uncertainty, stillness and anticipation, vulnerability and possibility coexist.
