MESSED UP FOLK HORROR!
WELCOME TO ALL HALLOWS’ EVE, DEPTFORD — 1973
Have you seen the mystic signs?
The Blood on Satan’s Claw?
Witchfinder General?
The Wicker Man?
Three films. Three warnings. And absolutely no lessons learned.
This All Hallows’ Eve, The Green Man Inn invites you to Summerisle for an evening of queer folk, pagan mischief, strange customs and deeply suspicious locals.
Come and celebrate the old ways with us — although we cannot guarantee that the old ways will celebrate you back.
Expect corn dollies, candlelight, ghost stories, pagan cocktails, eerie folk songs, questionable rituals, strange performances, the Mystic Henge and the unmistakable feeling that someone, somewhere, is watching.
There’ll be live music and folk-horror mayhem from our very own house band THE BENTANGLE, with their usual blend of twisted tunes, folk magic and general depravity.
TREV will be performing some brand-new songs, while Green Man Inn residents KEZIAH and MEDUSA HAS BEEN emerge from the shadows of the beer cellar with spooky stories, strange songs and other things best not witnessed alone.
And presiding over the festivities…
DR MARTIN O’BRIEN
LORD SUMMERISLE
He welcomes you to the island.
He knows the customs.
He knows the songs.
He knows what happens at the end.
So come dressed for the season and prepare yourself for an evening of queer pagan revelry, folk-horror nonsense and 1970s British folk weirdness.
But remember:
DO NOT TURN UP AS A VIRGIN POLICEMAN.
DO NOT GO TO THE LOCAL SWEET SHOP.
DO NOT TRUST THE LOCALS.
And above all…
KEEP THE FIRE BURNING.
THE GREEN MAN INN AWAITS YOU..
