Back to School: Comedy / New Writing Night
Following on from the sellout success of our spooky halloween short story night AND lovely vday romance night, another small group of writers and comedians (see line-up) will once again gather in the gorgeous red velvet basement of Aces and Eights to rapidly write (brave) and read (beautiful) some serious and/or funny scholarly tales by candlelight.-

100% of ticket proceeds go to the artists. With the Patron of the Arts ticket, the additional 2 quid goes towards the non-performing artists, such as graphic design and photography.

Angela Channell is a current BBC staff writer and comedy rat @channellioJamie Byrne is a comedian who was recently nominated for the Brighton Fringe award for alternative comedy with a show all about cigarettes. His secondary school had a swimming pool which is pretty nice @jamiebyrnecomedyMartha Reed is a Welsh writer for TV and theatre. She was top of the class, and is therefore desperate for your praise @marthareedinkSophie Koko is a writer/director for animation. Her work has been shown on Adult Swim, FX, Hulu and the BBC. Her short films have screened at Sundance, SXSW, BFI and the Barbican. She's also a practicing clown and stand up, a finalist of Berlin new stand up award 2024. Her arms are quite long @sophiekokoMahi Joshi is a law student and writer. When she feels nervous, she reminds herself that if she survived her first day at a girls' grammar school, she can survive anything.Lewis MacLean is Clap Back to Reality semi-finalist and so fetch @returnofthelewmacNadia Larina is a London-based writer, director and performer from a working-class background, working across theatre, film, poetry and stand-up. Her films have screened at BAFTA- and BIFA-qualifying festivals, while her theatre plays have been performed at London’s Drayton Arms Theatre and Etcetera Theatre @nadialarinaofficialJasper Marshall is a sketch comedian, writer and actor who has had regular nightmares about exams since leaving school and simply cannot wait to recreate the experience of cramming revision the night before. @jmarshall9000 @boysfromfudgeJon Burnham is an improviser with Burn the Script and writer @Jon.P.BurnhamMandy Warhole is a lonesome sociology teacher based in Basingstoke, England. Contractually, she teaches words like marginalization and profiling to the Millies and Tillies who go to the independent school there. Sometimes, she feels a little bad when she has to give out red slips to somebody’s daughter because their skirts were rolled up. Especially because usually, their skirts are at best giving “cheeky” on the tumblr skirt length diagram scale, but they get treated like they are pushing “slut” and “whore”. She herself would roll her skirt, if she didn’t prefer a versatile overall in Lucine Yak blue instead. Anyways, the point is, when she is not thinking about her female student’s skirt lengths, she is can be found writing her novel about an alternative version of her life as an executive producer in Hollywood.
