Silky Art Showcase is a Pole, Dance & Performance Art show created by Dance & Pole Artist, Jane Silk.
This showcase was created for any style of dance - all movement valid, all bodies welcome & all folks welcome*
*All folks welcome unless you're a TERF, SWERF or any other kind of ‘phobe’. Kind and respectful attendees only. This show is Queer/LGBTQIA+ run and allied with the SW community.
This first addition includes an incredible line-up of performers from the Midlands and other places in the UK. A whopping 25 performers plus Guest Performers and a very special Host!
The variety of performances will blow you away, make you laugh, cry, feel hot under the collar…all of the feelings to move and inspire.
Alongside this, we have a couple of local Artists exhibiting and selling their wears as part of our Silky Art Gallery. There will also be a very special Charity Raffle in aid of supporting the Sx Workers Union with some great prizes up for grabs.
This event isn't just a show, it is about bringing folks together and inspiring each other to create and connect.

It is a full show day due to comfort breaks scheduled to allow for decompressing, socialising or shopping.
Advised to bring a small cushion to sit on for extra comfort on the chairs or floor.
Travel/Transport
The venue is the New Art Exchange in Nottingham.
There are frequent buses and trams that take you to this area of Nottingham from the city centre. This is the preferred way of getting to the venue, says the venue.
We highly recommend arriving into Nottingham Train Station or Bus Station where possible, if travelling from outside of the area, then travelling from here to the venue. Otherwise, below are all the options researched so far to help you as much as possible:
The train station is an easy 14 min Tram or 25 min bus (Stop C4) then short walk.
Uber operates in Notts, the Uber from the Train Station is around £7 (15 mins), as an example.
Trams are popular in Notts. They can be paid for with contactless (tap on, tap off) or you can download the NETGO! app to pay too. Google Maps works well for directions and stops.

Parking further away that requires bus, tram or taxi to travel to venue from parking:
- Nottingham Train Station Car Park has great prices for parking at the weekend! However is a bit further from the venue (9 minute drive or 18 minute tram but 45 minute walk).
- Broadmarsh Car Park (Tram 16 mins, Bus (Stop C4) around 25 mins or walk 40 mins)
- Victoria Centre Car Park (14 min Tram or 30 minute walk).
- Q-Park Talbot Street (23 min walk or 10 min Tram).
- ASDA car park - “2 hours free (if spend in-store), then chargeable after that” - please contact ASDA for more information as this is a likely un-reliable option without prior knowledge - but at least you can grab snacks pre-show!
Accommodation
Nottingham has plenty of hotels, Airbnb's and accommodation options in the city centre and surrounding area. Google Maps is a good place to start should you need search for accommodation nearby.
