FEATURED ON OUT AND ABOUT LESBIAN / LGBTQ+ LONDON
“If you love decadence, queer in the sense of dressing up and being witnessed, DAPPER is for you.”
— Gay Times
Dapper - the metrosexual retrosexual lesbian wonderland - turns into a dark and blitz speakeasy in the back of an old lesbian bar, where all the people just happen to be dyke* gendered, and something shady is definitely happening.
dyke*= we are for lesbian, bi, pan, sapphic, ace, trans, flinta-acronym specific, romance & cruising.
The goal of the night is very simple:
GET RICH. GET FUCKED. DON'T GET CAUGHT.
Dress Code
Black-tie party. Tell us what brings you to this situation; are you a pearl-clutching rich widow? butch mafia mobster? femme fatale like Violet from lesbian classic Wachowski sisters' Bound? maybe you're more of a Corky? Maybe a mistress like Miss Scarlett from Cluedo or Elvira? Basically: dress up like you're rich for some shady reason, come up with your reason, be sleezy in a lace, heels, suit-and-tie, dapper, way.
Think film noir meets Bound meets Clue meets mafia glamour, with leather, handcuffs, camp and drama.
FIRST HALF: DINNER + MURDER MYSTERY
SECOND HALF: SPEAKEASY CLUB PARTY
About the Venue
Chats Palace was established in 1913 as a Carnegie library for the betterment of the people of the East End. The library closed in 1974 and soon after the building was reclaimed by members of the local community. It was the venue for a load of political/benefit gigs throughout the nineties (including Hackney Anarchy Week and a poll tax benefit which ended in 19 arrests), and has a long history of radical/community activity like these.
Independent Event
We are not for-profit, a company, or label, we’re two fellow lesbians on minimum wage working hard to make this event happen. We aim to centre subcultures (butch/stud/fem/me), immigrants, people of colour, intergenerational connections, punk/alternative vibes. Sometimes are lucky to get funding, which helps us make the event less expensive for attendees while paying our crew better. That's our ideal scenario given our economical situation, but for this event we are running everything out of pocket. We appreciate all of your economic and moral support to help us keep this running. We will be as transparent as possible with you about this and are grateful for all the love Dapper has received so far.
Accessibility
There is step-free access into the building and the ground floor of the venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with double doors throughout. There is also level access to: The Venue through main doors, The Theatre, The Library Bar, Disabled toilet, The Stage (via ramp), Artist Dressing Room, Loading Bay (at the rear of Venue). The capacity of the venue has been reduced for this event to allow easier movement of mobility aids through the venue. More detailed accessibility information available here: https://chatspalace.com/access/
We offer free companion tickets and preferred space for wheelchair users and those who require a seat. If you need to avail of one of these options, or have any other accessibility needs you would like to discuss with us in advance, please select an “Accessibility Needs” ticket at checkout and we will be able to contact you via the email address you booked under.
Refund/Resale
Tickets are non-refundable. However, Outsavvy allows ticket resale through its platform once an event has sold out.
