One drag queen. One crime. One livestreamed journey through Margate…
Casey Sea's LOVECRIME is a new drag performance, live from the streets of Margate. For one night only, Casey retraces the route where she was attacked two years ago, this time with a live audience as her witness.
Two years ago, dragged up and on her way to host a gig, Casey Sea was attacked on Edgar Road. Among the homophobic slurs they threw at her, they hurled stones, hard enough to draw blood. She reported it to the police. Nothing came of it.
What stayed with her afterwards wasn't just the attack, but the walk. Queer performers make journeys to the gigs they play that the audience never sees: often solitary, sometimes dangerous, always full of small calculations about their safety. The audience only ever meets the finished performer, already on stage, already safe. They don't see what it costs to get there.
LOVECRIME makes that journey the show. For one night, her stage is the street itself.
She's soundtracked the walk to the pop girl who gets her through: Robyn. Thumping records, heartbreaking lyrics - the artist Casey turns to when she needs to feel something, or work something out.
The work is a protest, a celebration of our community's strength, and a love letter to all queer performers making their way to perform at a gig tonight.
But will she make it to the audience in time for her last number?
Expect immense joy, dancefloor bangers, but above all, expect the unexpected.

Access at Margate Arts Club
- The main room (dancefloor/show space) has a ramp, so wheelchair users can get in through the front door.
- The doorway through to the bar and toilet is narrower, and won't fit a standard wheelchair.
- A folding wheelchair can sometimes work for that doorway, if you're able to stand briefly to get through it.
- The toilets include grab rails.
